FileSwap

Terms of Use

Last updated: 25 October 2026

1. The service

FileSwap ("the Service") lets two devices exchange messages and files directly with each other (peer-to-peer). Content is encrypted end-to-end in your browser (AES-GCM-256) and is sent straight to the other device. Files and messages are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.

2. Acceptance

By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. Acceptable use

You may only use the Service for lawful purposes. You must not use it to send, share or receive:

  • content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property rights;
  • child sexual abuse material or any other illegal content;
  • malware, viruses or other harmful code;
  • content used for fraud, harassment, threats or other criminal activity.

You must also not attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or misuse the Service or its infrastructure.

4. Your responsibility

You alone are responsible for the content you send and receive, and for having the necessary rights to share it. Only connect with people you trust, and only accept files you expect. Because transfers are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot see, review, scan or recover any content.

5. Our role

The Service only provides a technical channel between two devices. We do not initiate transfers, select recipients, or view, modify or store the content transmitted.

6. Reporting misuse

If you believe the Service is being misused, please tell us via the Contact form. We will act on credible reports, including by blocking access where technically possible, and cooperate with competent authorities as required by law.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that every transfer will succeed. Always keep your own copy of important files.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, indirect or consequential loss, or any damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, or from content sent by other users.

9. Changes

We may change or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. The current version is always available on this page.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law.
